Behind the B-14 Rifle
In the last blog, we talked about Bergara Barrels’ ability to turn out superior-quality barrels with high production rates in order to keep prices relatively low. It’s a fine-tuned process run by highly skilled engineers operating highly technical machinery. This same model applies to the Bergara B-14, our production rifle, which shoots with the accuracy of most custom guns.
Four years ago, the Bergara rifles division was born. We began by only building custom guns with our own actions, barrels and stocks. Then, in 2015, our production rifles, the B-14 series, was introduced to the world.
When the original concept was designed, we called it “B-14” in-house as a working name. And it stuck. The action, which we call the premier action, is produced at our same facility in Bergara, Spain, where our barrels come from. It’s a super-smooth, two lug system with a sako-style extractor and a coned bolt nose and breech that ensures a fluid feeding of the bullets each time. The B-14’s trigger was also designed in-house. It has an incredibly crisp, clean pull that is set at about three pounds. Lastly, two of the three models come with either a hinged floorplate or detachable magazine, both of which are our own designs.
The B-14 series, which has three variations, including the Timber, Woodsman and Hunter models, is guaranteed to shoot sub 1.0 MoA groups with any factory ammunition. The Hunter’s stock is American Style Synthetic with a SoftTouch Finish. It is available in a hinged floorplate or detachable magazine version.
The Woodsman’s stock is a straight comb American Style Walnut. It is narrow through the body so that it’s lightweight; about half a pound lighter than the Timber model, which has a bit of a palm swell on its Monte Carlo Style Walnut. They’re both really comfortable stocks and it gives you the option to choose which one fits you best. The Woodsman comes with either the hinged floorplate or detachable magazine option. Again, these variations largely depend on shooter preference.
Each of these rifles are available in .300 Win. Mag., .30-06 SPRG, .270 Win., .308 Win. and 6.5 Creedmoor. The Woodsman and Hunter also available in 7MM Rem. Mag. The insanely precise barrel-making process carries over into our super-smooth B-14 action, trigger and magazines, making these rifles suitable for any big-game hunter.
